Just in case anyone is interested, Patti Jeppson and I have also proposed a
similar session to the Society for Applied Anthropology, to be held in
Memphis in May. We see these as continuing conversations, and we will have
some of the same participants (and some new ones).
You are probably aware (since you too are coming to AAA) that many of the
discussions about these issues are happening at anthropological conferences,
because in Americanist archaeology we are also part of anthropology. However
you are right...to my knowledge the SAA, EAA, and SHA haven't set up
anything similar to what the AAA is doing. I am happy to be corrected,
however.
