Adaptations in a person's home should be installed to their personal
preferences and I don't know of any legislation, rules, standards which
prevent this. There is a height given in Part M (480mm) but this is for
non-residential accommodation and does not apply to dwellings. It clould be
that the local authority prefers the use of a 'toilet seat raiser' rather
than a plinth under the WC to make the adaptation more easily reversible at
a later date but this shouldn't prevent a plinth being fitted if it's the
preferred option.

Alan

Subject: Toilet plinths
In a dwelling with adpatations, are we still allowed to permanently raise
the height of the WC by inserting a plinth between the floor and the
toilet pedestal?
One of our Occupational therapists has been told by a contractor it is now
illegal.
