Hi, Harry ~
This argument goes in and out of fashion, and at various
times even the gods have been interpreted as being merely
the Dead writ large.
You'll find more along these lines in Eva Pocs' *Between
the Living and the Dead*, treating the idea of faeries and
witches and werewolves and vampires and demons as existing
at the limits of consciousness and the limits of species,
all interstitial-like and chimeric.
In fact, if you look through the Narvaez volume that
Caroline cites, you'll even find some comparison of faeries
and 'aliens', examining the similarities in faery lore
abduction scenarios < for instance >.
