Subject: BooKroom at The London Artists Book Fair '07 (LAB 07) - Friday to Sunday (23rd to 25th November)
Book works from Bookroom members, visiting lecturers and graduates students will be on display
at The London Artists Book Fair '07 (LAB 07) which will take place from next Friday to Sunday (23rd to 25th November) at the ICA in central London.
Opening hours for visitors 12.00 mid-day to 6.30 p.m Friday (an invitation only PV runs from 7.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m / 11.00 a.m to 7.00 p.m Saturday / 11.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m Sunday.
This is the largest event on the British calendar for this eclectic artform, and you will see the work of exhibiting fine artists and printmakers, designers and illustrators, writers and other related creative people - not only that but have the opportunity to talk to them and buy their work. This year Marcus Campbell Books have organized the largest event to date - extending throughout the ICA over the three days and including live performances, music, screenings, readings (there's an Exhibitor's Forum in the ICA Bar over the weekend) and a special ticket-only discussion between artist Tom Philips and Hansbjorg Mayor on 'The Humument' in Cinema 2.
The BookRoom research cluster, based and funded by The University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham, was formed in 2004 and includes members of staff from Design and Photography departments. Led by Anna Fox and Emmanuelle Waeckerlé from the photography department, and supported by Pedro Vicente, the cluster has taken as its theme the way in which the book the magazine page and other printed or digital works have provided a vehicle for the dissemination of photographic, graphic and text based works, posing a number of key issues about design, structure and editorial control.
We are very interested in the development of books made by artist designers and photographers, evolving in parallel to more conventional publishing such as monographs and illustrated books BookRoom organises an annual conference with international contributors. A Case of Books (2006), In Print (2007), Photo/Graphics (2008).
BookRoom is currently developing a number of international connections in America, France and India, aiming to develop a series of international seminars investigating the possibility of collaborative practices and the formation of an international network of academic and non academic researchers.
hoping to see you there
