Postdoctoral Research Fellow / PhD student position in Clinical Neuroscience
at the MPI Cologne /Germany
Applications are invited for a PostDoctoral and PhD student position in the
‘Neuromodulation & Neurorehabilitation’ group at the Max Planck Institute
for Neurological Research in Cologne, Germany.
The position is in collaboration with Dr. Christian Grefkes and Prof. D.
Yves von Cramon.
The Max Planck Institute for Neurological Research provides an excellent
multi-disciplinary and interactive research environment in the cosmopolitan
and culturally vibrant city of Cologne. Situated next to the Departments of
Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery at the University of Cologne, we
combine expertise in neuroimaging (fMRI, DTI, PET, EEG), neuropharmacology,
neurophysiology (incl. TMS and DCS) as well as in cognitive neuroscience and
clinical research. The institute is equipped with human PET and animal PET
systems, as well as with high and ultra high-field human and animal MR
facilities, dedicated to research purposes only. In addition, a combined
human PET-MR system is soon to be installed. The Institute provides also EEG
capabilities, for human and animal application, as well as invasive
histological/immunohistochemical techniques.
The research focus of the ‘Neuromodulation & Neurorehabilitation’ group lies
in investigating pathophysiological changes resulting from major
neurological diseases such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease on both the
behavioural and the neural level assessed with neuroimaging. Furthermore, we
aim at modulating human brain function by means of electrophysiological and
pharmacological interventions in both healthy subjects and patients with a
neurological deficit.
Applicants should have a degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Medicine,
Neuroinformatics, Physics or related areas. Salary is according to the
German TVöD (salary scale 13 or 14, depending on qualification) or salary
scale 13/2 (PhD candidates) with benefits. The Max-Planck Society is an
equal opportunity affirmation action employer and encourages applications
