JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Full-time fMRI Research Project Assistant at the Hospital
for Sick Children, Toronto Canada. The lab specializes in studying the
cognitive neuropsychology of children who were exposed to insufficient
levels of thyroid hormone during fetal life and early infant development or
were exposed prenatally to alcohol or other teratogens. Primary
responsibilities include assisting with fMRI and behavioural studies,
analyzing fMRI data, and general assistance with the organization and
running of the lab. The candidate should have a minimum of a BA or BSc,
preferably in experimental psychology or neuroscience, although applicants
with other backgrounds but with sufficient motivation to learn will be
considered. Experience with fMRI and familiarity with neuroimaging analysis
software (e.g. Analyze, SPM, AFNI) is required. Strong computer skills,
experience with multiple platforms, and an aptitude for learning are also
required. Experience in computer programming (e.g. E-Prime, Presentation,
MATLAB) is a plus, but is not essential. Familiarity with statistics and
previous research experience is an asset. General knowledge in the areas of
child development, cognitive psychology, or neuropsychology is also
recommended. The successful candidate will also have strong interpersonal
skills, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm. This position offers
excellent training for students who wish to pursue a career in cognitive
neuropsychology. There will also be opportunities to make creative
contributions to the research. The position is open immediately. A
two-year commitment is requested. Salary commensurate with qualifications
and experience.
