Dear All
The Sociology of Religion Study Group announces the launch of the Taylor &
Francis Sociology of Religion Postgraduate Essay competition.
We are inviting essays from postgraduate members of the Study Group on any
aspect of contemporary religion grounded in a sociological perspective. We
welcome entries from postgraduates all stages of their studies. The prize for
the winning essay is £100 and, subject to undergoing the usual refereeing
process, it is hoped that the winning essay will be published in the Journal of
Contemporary Religion.
Essays should be between 5000 and 8000 words, and should be submitted
electronically as a single MS Word document to Kristin Aune
([log in to unmask]), including bibliography and cover sheet (which can be
downloaded from the Study Group website or Kingston University's website). The
deadline for submission is the 28th February, 2008, and entries can be submitted
at any time between now and then.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the Study Group's Annual
Conference Dinner on the 9th April, 2008.
If you are a member of staff, please encourage your postgraduate students to
submit essays; if you are a postgraduate this is great opportunity to work
towards an early publication on your thesis topic, or a chance to explore
another area of interest.
