Egenis Communications Officer (50% FTE)
ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society (Egenis), School of Humanities and
Social Sciences
This part-time (50%) post is available from January 2008 on a fixed term
basis until 30 September 2012. Egenis, the ESRC Centre for Genomics in
Society, at the University of Exeter, is looking to recruit a proactive
individual to undertake our communications activities.
The successful candidate will facilitate broader engagement within our areas
of expertise, namely social and philosophical issues arising from a range of
fields in contemporary bioscience. The emphasis of the Egenis Communications
Officer will be on maximising the impact of Egenis research on practice and
policy. The major duties of the post are to drive forward the Egenis
Communications Strategy and to manage the communications and policy
networking and engagement work of the Centre.
You must be a graduate in a relevant field and with experience of
communications and/or policy relevant activities and able to demonstrate a
proactive approach to developing the role. Skills in the production of
communications materials of all kinds, and the ability to write for a range
of academic and non-academic audiences are required. The successful
applicant will have proven organisational abilities to plan and lead the
delivery of projects and events, and to maintain a large portfolio of
communications and networking activities.
The starting salary will be circa £14,600 pa for this 50% post. Prospective
