Hi Max
I mix a bit with Canberra writers, mostly poets, but less so than when I
was active in the Writers Centre here.
I'm with Ginninderra Press as well. I agree with your observation about
distribution, which seems to be a problem more broadly with poetry
books. The prophecy about limited market interest becomes self-fulfilling.
Poetry as text for the application of theory figured fairly heavily in
my tertiary education (English and French lierature, up in Armidale). I
blame that (and laziness) for the long falling-away I had from poetry.
It took me a long time to put too much consciousness of the literary
aside and engage direct with the art/craft of the writing.
There's something that I call "Scotland" that figures very much in my
imagination, with the ambiguous stuff that goes with the migrant
experience. Whether Scots would recognise much of it is another question.
Regards
Martin
