Dear Patrick
My sentiments entirely.
Politics are ever troubled and troublesome. I came from a liberal-arty
family but university and all posed - how can one ever change the world?
Between 1987 and 2003 I became a leading socialist activist - always at
picket lines, was Mr Anti-Poll Tax, lead marches of hundreds (even in this
small town) and stood as Parliamentary candidate for the Socialist Alliance
here in 2001 and organised bus-loads for the big Stop The War Demo, March
2003. Burnt out? Sure!!
While no longer active, my heart and soul burn still. Poetry must keep
burning!
Rupert x

Thanks everybody for comments etc -I just feel so outraged at what has been
done -the invasion of Iraq it was going round in my head -and it helped to
write this I will try to make some different versions -I do like the cliché
at the end rounding it off -one dreams of what one wants and also just
dreams well enough for now brilliant sun shine here anyway and am grape
picking -giving away to neighbours or neighbors for some!!
P outraged P
Ps when someone invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland they were rather
criticised I remember
