I undertake pre-employment screening for a Pharmceutical company and a new
employee who may be working on the packing lines or some tablet, cream and
liquid products, has divulged that they have been recently had a blood
test that showed they have Hepatitis B Antibodies, possibly passed to her
from her mother when she was born over 30 years ago.
Does anyone on the list work within the pharmaceutical industry or have
experience within the industry have any suggested advice, as I know that
the company involved doesn't yet have a ratified policy in place, only a
draft on BBV's in the workplace.
We had a similar situation where another individual divulged to OH & HR
that they had HIV and were then having been offered the job there
employment was terminated on the grounds that they could potentially be a
risk to the products and hence the public should they cut them selves
during any process.
So I want to prevent this situation happening again..
Please could someone give me some urgent advice and getting advice from an
OH Physician at present is a 10-16 week wait.
Many thanks
Clare McArdell
