hi all
we have student caseloading here at TVU (for several years now) but I am
also not aware of any formal studies - time to do one perhaps!
however, Trudy Stevens did interview students who had been placed with
caseload midwives as part of her larger ethnographic study of caseload
midwifery. these students were very positive about the experience and
this study influenced our decision to have student caseloading. The
findings are discussed in Trudy's thesis, but perhaps she should write
an article focused on the findings in relation to student experience. A
key observation was that the students found it very good for learning
from experience, as they could follow women right through.

Dear all, We (myself and Sabine Blix-Lindström) started the case-load
concept at South hospital in Stockholm about 1-1½ year ago for midwifery
students. Before we started I seached for literature but did not find
any systematic evaluation. As far as I know it has not been
evaluated/studied even in Bournmout from were we got the idea. Regards
Karin
