The Scottish Museums Council (SMC) is conducting an ICT survey of its
members. This is designed to build a current picture of ICT provision
across the sector in Scotland and follow up SMCs strategy publication 'A
national ICT strategy for Scotland's museums'. The strategy was
published in 2004 and has now reached the end of its three-year time
frame. Just after its launch SMC conducted an ICT survey which was
completed in August 2004 and informed a number of subsequent actions.
The results of the new survey will be mapped against those from 2004 and
is one of the ways in which SMC is seeking to evaluate the impact of the
strategy and establish the focus of SMCs ICT objectives.
The deadline for submission of completed surveys is 26 October 2007.
Once all the data has been compiled and evaluated, a summary report will
be made available to the SMC website www.scottishmuseums.org.uk
<http://www.scottishmuseums.org.uk/> . We hope that the findings will
be of interest to the sector at large.
If anyone would like any further information about the survey please
contact me off-list.
Many thanks.
