Dear Forum,
In teacher training courses in my university, pre-service teachers develope
some manipulatives for secondary education in Material Development courses .
Most of the materials are reflections of their original ideas to the
manipulatives. It is very interesting to see their imaginations as real
objects. One of my PhD student also follows the process they live and try
to understand their creability in that way.
I wonder that do you have material development courses in your teacher
training programmes and what your syllabus is.
Some of the student teachers think that manipulatives are not neccessary for
the secondary education since the concepts are more abstract. Any thoughts ?
With best wishes,
Ahmet Arikan
