Job title: Information Officer / Librarian
Line manager: Acting Information Services Supervisor
Main duties and responsibilities (working as part of the Information Services team):
Indexing, Abstracting and Cataloguing
· To index and abstract journal articles added to the MIDIRS database
· To catalogue, index and abstract pamphlets and other material for the database
· To work with the other information librarians to ensure the database has comprehensive coverage of maternity and midwifery issues throughout the world, and that the information is easy to retrieve
Other duties and responsibilities of the Information team that the post holder may be required to undertake:
Proof reading
· To undertake proof-reading and copy editing for MIDIRS publications, including the quarterly journal MIDIRS Midwifery Digest, the Informed Choice leaflets, the online monthly newsletter Essence and marketing materials.
Reference Checking
· To assist with the checking of references for original articles to appear in the MIDIRS Midwifery Digest and for MIDIRS evidence-based publications such as the leaflets produced as part of the Informed Choice initiative [using the MIDIRS database, other bibliographic databases and the Internet]
Information Service
· To answer enquiries by mail, telephone and email using the MIDIRS database and other resources
· To provide support for the information needs of other departments, especially in relation to the Informed Choice initiative, MIDIRS Midwifery Digest and Essence
