Colleagues,
The ebooks event has one speaker giving a presentation on the interlending
of Ebooks which I thought may be of interest to you.
The speaker is an Aviva Weinstein of MyiLibrary which has developed a
partnership with the Canadian CISTI organisation (the National Research
Council Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information) where
users may have access to an ebook for 30 days through a url received in an
email immediately after an online payment of $25 has been made . At the
end of the “loan/access” period the access is denied. So perhaps an
envisage an ILL scenario where one does not require to collect a book from
the shelf, process it, post it, recall it, return it to the shelf etc.
More information on the initiative is available from Research Information,
2007, June/July, p28
