“Innovation in goods and services that primarily impacts upon the aesthetic
rather than the functional has traditionally received little attention in
innovation policy and research. This ‘soft innovation’ encompasses
aesthetic innovation in cultural and creative products as well as aesthetic
innovation in non-cultural products.”
On Thursday 8th November, Professor Paul Stoneman of Warwick Business
School will be presenting his first paper from a major research project for
NESTA on ‘soft innovation’. In his paper, Professor Stoneman sets out the
parameters and scope of his research for NESTA. Preliminary analysis of
trademarks data and new titles in the publishing industry suggests that
soft innovation in the UK is significant and is becoming more so.
When: Thursday 8th November, 11am-12.30pm
Where: NESTA, 1, Plough Place, London, EC4A 1DE
