organising a One Day Conference:
***THE BODY AND SOCIAL POLICY***
Keynote Address: Prof. Julia Twigg (University of Kent)

The body has become a prominent concept within sociology and is becoming a
major feature of analysis for those investigating contemporary issues of
social exclusion, welfare and policy. This One Day conference aims to
foster dialogue between sociological theory and social policy by exploring

giving, disability, health and well-being, social capital and social
exclusion.
We welcome abstracts (300 words max.) from researchers working within and
across the disciplines of social policy and sociology who wish to
contribute to this exciting area of study. Presentations should aim to be
20 minutes in length and will be organised into thematic streams.
