or at least your thoughts on the following -
As was widely discussed after the IBG (and many times before - and
probably again) increasing numbers of geographers are concerned about the
impact of flying to conferences and would like to create alternative ways
of conferencing.
With this in mind I was wondering whether any of you would like to take
part in a mirror session, in London, to co-inside with the AAG in Boston
next year.
I have been discussing the potental for video-conferencing sessions with
Dorethea Kleine who has previously run a sucessful web-facilitated session
with Kampala University - proving it can be done!
There is obviously a lot to be learnt before we can attempt to run whole
conferences across the web. However, if we don't start somewhere we won't
do anything at all....so I would suggest that a few sessions could be
video-conferenced and other key sessions simply web-cammed (so no
interaction but still transmission) - obviously specifics will be decided
upon and debated once people express their support -
So if you don't want to go to Boston but do want to be involved -let me know!
Thanks
