Yes, but at the same time the original query was about (excuse me if I
am wrong) the use of the term in this jiscmail group?
In this case, the group works around the 'contemporary past' tediously
understood to be that bit that is closer to now in terms of clocks and
filofaxes. So there is a sense in which by employing the concept this
group is not evoking the understanding Christopher and Cornelius are
describing but negating it.
