you might also look for works on Tsodilo hills in Botswana. There's been
lots of archaeology there, though it's not my speciality so I can't think of
any books off the top of my head.
There's a spring on Mt. Shasta in California believed to be a creation spot
for one of the California tribes. And the Black Hills are believed to be the
creation place for the Lakota people.
