Call for papers to be published in Journal
Theme: South Asians/East Indians in the Caribbean:
Indians in the Contemporary Caribbean
I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed Guest Editor
of the journal Man in India: A Quarterly International Journal of Anthropology.
For this special issue, I propose to select and publish a multi-disciplinary collection of essays that will focus on South Asians/East Indians in the Caribbean.
The emphasis will be on any topic relating to Indians from post Indentureship to the contemporary period.
It is expected that contributions will be about Indians in Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Jamaica, in addition to Guadeloupe, Martinique and other smaller Caribbean islands.
The special issue will consist of 15 to 18 papers, each of which should not be more than 8000 words.
The papers should be the product of original, unpublished research.
Guidelines for preparing manuscripts will be sent to those whose abstracts have been approved for publication.
Interested individuals should note the following deadlines:
Submit abstract and 100-word biography by Friday October 26, 2007
Submit draft of paper by Friday November 2, 2007
Submit final paper by Friday November 9, 2007
Abstracts must include the title of the paper the name(s) of author(s); institutional
affiliation; and e-mail address, phone & fax numbers.
Proposals will be reviewed on the basis of originality of topic, depth of research, quality of scholarship, and contribution to the body of knowledge on the subject
