This busy University library is seeking an assistant to work part-time in
the Special Collections Reading Room in the Archives Division of the
Library.
Main duties will be to assist in the cataloguing, maintenance and servicing
of the archives, manuscripts and rare books collection, which will include:
the supervision of readers in the reading room, assisting with enquiries and
the general work of the Division and processing of reprographic orders.
The successful candidate should have a good educational background, and
excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills, along with the ability
to show initiative and work accurately in a methodical manner. Experience
of working in a library, archives or similiar environment would be an
advantage.
This is an ideal position for someone who is seeking to gain relevant
experience before obtaining a qualification in archives administration.
Annual leave is 20 days pro rata per year plus statutory and bank holidays.
