ARCHIVE ASSISTANT
Salary: £17,400 pa (pro rata)
Part-time: 14-21 hours per week (3½ – 5½ month fixed-term contract)
OR
Full-time: 36 hours per week (2 month fixed-term contract)
You will play an important role in the development of the National
Gallery’s ongoing cataloguing programme and assist in the sorting and
listing of records using the CALM Records database.
You will be educated to A level standard, or equivalent, and have
experience of working with databases and archives. Experience of archive
cataloguing and cataloguing standards is desirable. Some knowledge of
British 19th and 20th century history would also be an advantage, as would
an interest in museums and art history.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable and able to work
without constant supervision. The ability to prioritise workloads and work
to agreed deadlines is important, in addition to excellent attention to
detail, a methodical approach and accuracy.
This post is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to broaden their
experience of archive work and for those wanting to gain pre-course
experience in a major national institution. The postholder has the
opportunity to work on either a part-time or full-time basis.
