Project Leader & Archivist, ‘Access to Northumberland’s History’
Salary: £23,175 to £24,708 (pay award pending). Temporary for 18 months.
Following an award from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Northumberland County
Council is embarking on an exciting two year project aimed at greatly
increasing access to the store of knowledge in its archive collections.
Based at Woodhorn Museum, Archives and Country Park, ‘Access to
Northumberland’s History’ will deliver a programme of interpretive,
educational and outreach programmes, targeted at the development of
learning and community audiences.
The Project’s core objectives are as follows:
- Adding content to our web-based searchable catalogue of archive
collections.
- Digitisation of key resources for use in interpretation, community and
educational programmes.
- Delivery of a programme of audience building activities.
With a post-graduate qualification in archives administration and at least
three years’ post-qualification experience of archives work, you will co-
ordinate the work of the project team in order to ensure that the aims and
outcomes of the project are met.
You will be responsible for arranging and participating in the cataloguing
of major archive collections and co-ordinating the work of other staff in
cataloguing, overseeing a programme of digitisation, and developing
educational and outreach resources. You will also devise work plans and
targets, and take charge of managing the project budget
