AST Regions may be better for 3D volumes than ARD. The Prism class,
for instance, is a Region that represents another Region extruded into
higher dimensions. The main problem with AST Regions is that, unlike
ARD, there is no simple textual description for a Region - you just
have to use the full AST dump of the object.
