Hi
I had cardiac ablation this Jan, there were no restrictions on
activity, in fact I was advised that I could go back to horse riding and
all my other activities the following week by the consultant (however I
felt awful or about 12 days following).
I think the important questions to ask are were there any other cardiac
issues as sometimes there are and these can not all be resolved by the
ablation and the most important is did the ablation work fully, in the
past the success rate was not as good as it is now.
if they do suffer from any problems now, what are the triggers,
how can they stop the palpitations as in WPW it does not resolve on its
own, how do they stop it, how long does this take and what is the
frequency of attack.
if it is a safety critical job and it has not resolved I would refer to
an OHP, as the palpitations can make you feel extremely ill, and due to
the lack of oxygenated blood going to extremities including the brain
normal functioning is nigh on impossible during attack and for a short
while after.
I worked in ITU and Theatre as well as OH with this, before ablation
and functioned well, my triggers (amongst others) were working along
stretches of nights, so I never did more than 3 in a row.
so in short if the ablasion worked, no restrictions otherwise lots of
questions to ask.
Hopethis helps

Hi (calling those with cardiac experience)
i have a person who has applied for a demanding role with the above and
i
have found details of it being a condition which is treated with
ablation,
which was done several years ago.
anyone know if physical work is contraindicated after surgery???i can
find
lots about it causing death in young people but nothing about adults.
