The New School seeks to make an appointment in its Department of
Anthropology at the New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang
College. We invite applications from scholars in the second term of
their assistant professorship, or first term of associate. The ideal
candidate will complement the NSSR's commitment to interdisciplinarity
and the Anthropology Department's emphasis on critical, empirical
scholarship that examines differing ways of knowing the past, exploring
the present, and imagining the future.
Geographic area and subject specialization are open. The successful
candidate will have an outstanding record of publication, research, and
innovative teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
International candidates are encouraged to apply as are individuals from
groups historically under-represented in higher education.
Applicants should send a letter of application, a copy of their current
cv, a writing sample or samples, three letters of recommendation, and
materials that indicate their teaching interests and abilities by
November 15, 2007, to: Anthropology Search Committee, The New School for
Social Research, The New School, 79 Fifth Avenue, 9th Floor, NY, NY
10003. The appointment begins July 1, 2008.
The New School is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in all its
activities and programs including employment and promotion. The New
School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or
ethnic origin, citizenship status, religion, gender, sexual orientation,
age, physical handicap, veteran or marital status.
