IST-Africa 2008 Conference and Exhibition

Dear Colleagues,
 
We wish to invite you to prepare and submit a paper or workshop proposal
for consideration for the IST-Africa 2008 Scientific Programme, and
request that you forward this Call for Papers to your colleagues in
research, government or business interested in these topics.
 
Part of the IST-Africa Initiative (www.IST-Africa.org), which is
supported by the European Commission under the IST Programme of
Framework Programme 6 (FP6), IST-Africa 2008 is the third in an Annual
Conference Series which brings together delegates from leading
commercial, government & research organisations across Africa and from
Europe, to bridge the Digital Divide by sharing knowledge, experience,
lessons learnt and good practice. 
 
IST-Africa 2007 (Maputo, 9 - 11 May) was a great success, attracting
over 460 delegates from 51 countries and four continents, with
Exhibitors from African and European research and governmental
organisations.
 
Hosted by the Government of Namibia and Technical Co-Sponsored by IEEE,
IST-Africa 2008 will focus on Applied ICT research topics addressing
major societal and economic challenges, which is part of the European
Commission's Information Communications Technologies (ICT) programme.
The programme will combine strategic keynote presentations, technical
and policy papers, case studies, workshops, an exhibition and social
activities. The programme will showcase results from projects currently
funded at national and regional level in Africa and Europe as well as
those funded under the ICT Programme of the European Commission.

Call for Papers

Important Deadlines:
Online submission deadline for full paper or workshop proposal: 09
November 2007
Acceptance decision: 18 January 2008
Final Paper Submission: 20 February 2008
 
The scientific programme for IST-Africa 2008 is based on an open Call
for Papers and the conference language is English.
 
Interested presenters are encouraged to prepare an 8 page paper (4,000 -
5,000) words following the IST-Africa 2008 paper guidelines and paper
template for submission online by 09 November. Please observe the Paper
Guidelines available at
www.ist-africa.org/conference2008/default.asp?page=paperguidelines and
use the Paper Template provided.when preparing your paper.
 
All submissions will be double blind reviewed by the International
Programme Committee and authors will receive feedback in mid January.
Accepted authors will then be invited to submit a final paper taking
account of feedback provided for inclusion in the conference proceedings
by end of February.
