Dear All,
I have just completed my MSc in which my dissertation looked at
the 'import and trade of medicinal and aromatic plants in the UK' and also
looked into the commercial cultivation of MAPs. Part of this study
involved interviewing herbal practitioners as to where they source there
products from and any issues they may have regarding the sustainability of
the products.
My interests are in the development of MAP cultivation both in the UK and
overseas and the potential this has for incresing livelihoods and
enhancing the sustainability of the trade. Commercialization in the UK is
low compared to the rest of Europe, but has the potential to develop to
reduce the reliance on importing UK native species currently grown in
Eastern Europe etc.
Bset wishes
Paul
