Informal enquiries are invited for the following positions available
with immediate effect in the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise
Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University. The positions are intended
to support ongoing research collaborations between Prof. Mark Williams
(Liverpool John Moores University), Dr. Stefan Vogt (Lancaster
University) and Prof. Neil Roberts (Magnetic Resonance Image and
Analysis Research Centre, University of Liverpool) focusing on the
brain mechanisms underpinning anticipatory judgements in real-world
tasks. It is envisaged the data collection will involve the use of
fMRI and TMS techniques.
1. Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Cognitive Neuroscience - this is a
12-month contract at a starting salary of £21,682 per annum (pay award
pending). The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in
cognitive neuroscience or a related area (e.g., sports science,
experimental psychology) and be familiar with fMRI data collection and
image analysis. The candidate would be involved in experiment
preparation, behavioural piloting, video and fMRI analysis as well as
the preparation of publications and grant submissions.
2. M.Phil/Ph.D. studentship - this is a 2-3 year funded project with
payment being in the form of a tax-free Stipend of £12,400 per annum
(pay award pending). Full-time registration fees will be covered. The
successful candidate is expected to have an upper second class or
first class degree and ideally a Masters degree in cognitive
neuroscience. Candidates with a background in sports science, motor
control and experimental psychology will also be considered.
3. M.Res studentships - opportunities exist for two motivated
candidates to complete M.Res degrees in the area of cognitive
neuroscience/sports science/motor control. The studentship includes
12-months of funding including a tax-free stipend of £7,500 per annum
plus the payment of registration fees. The successful candidates are
expected to have an upper second class or first class degree in
cognitive neuroscience or a related area (e.g., sports science,
experimental psychology).
