The next meeting of the Local Government Group will take place on Wednesday
21st November 2007 at the Westminster Archives Centre. I have had to change
the theme for the meeting for this time as the speakers I had in mind for
the FoI (section 46) workbook and the IG Toolkit were not available in
November and we will now be following that theme in the January/February
meeting. I thought that it would be good to have a records management "hot-
pot" day with a series of short(ish) presentations on core records
management issues.
If anyone would be prepared to share their expertise in any of the
following please do let me know:
• What is a record?
• Any aspects of ISO15489
• Evidential weight and/or legal admissibility
• Records life cycle v continuum
• Benefits of information audits
• Basis business continuity planning
• Basic business risk management issues
Or any other burning issues (I've already had a volunteer for EDRMS and
I've approached someone to talk about retention schedules) please do
contact me and I can start to put the agenda together.
The meeting is free of charge and open to anyone interested, but preference
will always be given to members of the RMS.
For those of you who have not already found it the consultation version of
the revised records management toolkit for schools can be found at
http://www.rms-gb.org.uk/resources/835. I would like to have any comments,
amendments, revisions, inaccuracies or suggestions by the end of September
2007 so that I can get this revision released as soon as possible.
If you would like to attend the meeting, volunteer to speak, or have any
comments about the records management toolkit for schools please do contact
me on [log in to unmask]
