PC non-Indians tend to call them Native-Americans.
They, in my experience, tend to call themselves
Indians, unless they're referring to specific tribes,
such as Cherokees, Apaches, etc. Calling US
Americans Americans is okay with most USAmericans,
though not with all Americans in the broader sense.
Mexicans often like to call USAmericans and Canadians
Norteamericanos, as though Mexico isn't part of
North America. Btw, we usually call Indians from India
Indians too. Just don't let George Bowering catch you
calling USAmericans Americans.
