The Chesapeake Biological Laboratory of the University of Maryland
Center for Environmental Science announces a tenure-track opening to
enhance our research and teaching programs and contribute to our
strategic directions. The growing multi-disciplinary environmental
research programs at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory focus on
environmental issues of both international concern and local relevance
to the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. We are particularly interested in an
interactive scientist who will apply innovative analytical approaches to
the study of organic contaminants, with a focus on remediation, trophic
cycling, or transport of emerging compounds and metabolites in aquatic
systems. Our location and research fleet on the Chesapeake Bay provide
substantial opportunity for research emphasizing land-water
connectivity, estuarine processes and the coastal ocean.
The successful candidate should complement existing faculty strengths in
environmental toxicology and geochemistry, fisheries science and
ecosystem studies (www.cbl.umces.edu <http://www.cbl.umces.edu/>) and
will be expected to teach graduate level courses within the Marine
Estuarine and Environmental Sciences Graduate Program
(http://www.mees.umd.edu/).
