Basic Job Function:
Works closely with CCB Director to establish new capacity building
activities, assists in the maintenance of current CCB activities, and
assists in proposal preparation to government agencies and foundations.
Coordinates workshop logistics and engages in substantive independent
climate, water, and weather-related research.
Duties Include:
-Participates in multidisciplinary capacity building-related networking,
research and outreach activities.
-Works with educators, trainers, and stakeholders in a wide range of
disciplines or socio-economic sectors of society to enhance their awareness,
knowledge and inclusion of climate, water, and weather information. Promotes
the analysis and inclusion of societal impacts in education and training
activities.
-Assists in the development of curricula for Climate, Water, and Weather
Affairs programs.
-Serves as a liaison for workshop and conference development and
implementation and provides guidance to the CCB Director on audience needs.
Involved in workshop planning and implementation.
-Performs independent and collaborative research in climate, water, weather
and society related capacity building. Prepares and presents papers at
scientific and public meetings.
-Assists CCB Director in development of new outreach and education
activities. Identifies potential funding sources and writes sections of
project and funding proposals.
Requirements Include:
Education and Experience:
* Master's degree in multidisciplinary, environment-related program; or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Demonstrated interest in multidisciplinary aspects of climate, water,
weather, and societal interactions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Skill in the application of water, climate and weather issues to
environment/societal interactions.
* Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
* Ability to undertake multidisciplinary research.
* Skill in writing and communicating effectively to diverse audiences.
* Ability to multitask.
* Ability to organize projects and to prioritize activities to meet
deadlines.
* Skill in working in multicultural settings.
Desired (but not required):
* Foreign language capability.
