Hi Bob and Rick,
There's a very good 'German' book from Frank Klose that inventories all the
former mining remains in the Harz region. The book is in German, but every
locality is represented with a very detailed map. I don't think you need to
understand any German to read a map. This book from 1985 (still available)
doesn't give you a lot of historical information but besides a short
description of its geology and a mineral list, detailed information is given
on how to get there.
Please contact me off list if you want a particular scan.
Regards,
Richard

Subject: Re: Harz Mountains World Heritage Site
Dear List,
Rick Stewart & myself are going on holiday to the Harz Mountains on
Wednesday 5th September and would like to know what museums/sites we ought
to visit. We have checked out the Goslar World Heritage Site website, but
have found very little information in English and neither of us can read
German.
Can list members suggest places to go, especially with website details in
English? Is there anyone out there whom we should contact, perhaps to look
at things which are not generally on the tourist trail?
Robert Waterhouse
