One of the best sources of info. I think you might find is the vol. on the
Nentforce Level from Alston to Nenthead. This took many years to complete, and
the date is not too far removed. Other refs. that can be found in other vols.
refer to such levels at the Rhandirmwyn Mine near Llandovery (there were two
there), and the Speedwell Mine in Derbyshire.
At the end of the day, the technology and principals of practice applied to
mine Boat Levels came from canal tunnels, so I am sure that it won't take you
too long to put the picture together.
