Lynne,
I just wanted to make a comment and say that the historic house game is very
cool...it is fun, engaging, and a challenge -- making a Second Life version
based on this game would be fantastic. I'm not huge on Second Life but
having a game like this sure could make Second Life more enjoyable for
people interested in museums.
I think people participating in similar museum adventures on Second Life and
connecting them through historical channels the "then to now" approach to
level advancement, which is based on time progression history in order to
achieve higher levels of advancement and an eventual conclusion is just what
Second Life and museums need in this sort of virtual world and learning
platform. It would take a collaborative effort among the museum community
but it sure would be engaging and educational for end users -- this is what
Second Life is missing.

Subject: Computer games and heritage
Having just completed a HLF-funded project which involved a group of 14-15yr
olds at risk of exclusion in creating a computer game for one of our
historic houses, I would be very interested to hear from other
organisations/individuals who have done similar projects to share good
practice and also to share ideas about future partnerships/collaborations. I
would also be willing to share 'lessons learnt' with others thinking of
embarking on similar projects.
If you want to know more about the project and where you can also download
a demo version of the game visit www.middletonmystery.co.uk
I can also recommend an excellent games artist and superb software company!!
