Kew Gardens is looking for a temporary Website Assistant to work as part
of the digital media team. The role will include publishing and editing
pages on both the external website and the intranet site, and working
with the rest of the team on longer term projects. The digital media
team is currently creating exciting new services for Kew's audiences
such as the recent Henry Moore website (www.kew.org/henry-moore) and the
Treetop Walkway website for 2008.

Line Management Responsibilities: None
PURPOSE OF JOB
To work with the Website Manager to maintain Kew’s external website and
intranet site.
Main Responsibilities
· Edit existing and create new pages on the www.kew.org website.
· Publish new content at the request of contributors around Kew – from
Events to Science.
· Work as part of the production team on larger projects such as the
recent Henry Moore exhibition website.
· Publish news items and other content on Kew’s intranet.
· Support the Website Manager and Director of Digital Media on strategic
projects.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Education and Experience
· No formal qualifications required, but any training in web development
would be an advantage
· Experience of working within a team, and be able to work to tight
deadlines
· Experience of creating, editing and publishing web pages
· Experience of managing their own time and making effective priority
decisions
Skills and Competencies
· HTML skills – intermediate. Should be able to create pages, and apply
CCS styles.
· Photoshop – intermediate. E.g. cropping and optimising images for web
pages
· Understanding of accessibility issues
