There is still time to book for Internet Librarian International, which
starts on October 8th and runs for two days. The venue is the Copthorne
Tara Hotel, London. If you are a member of CILIP there is a 20% discount
off the full two day conference.
Further details at http://www.internet-librarian.com/
You can also still book for the pre-conference half day Masterclasses
being held on October 7th.
UKeiG is a a supporter of the event and UKeiG committee member Karen
Blakeman [yes, me] will be presenting a session on Tuesday morning on
'What the Search Engine are up to Now'. And there are some interesting
developments - or what a few people might call skulduggery!
There are also a series of networking dinners on the evening of Monday
8th if you want to do something more interesting than eat in the hotel
restaurant and make new friends. Details are on the ILI web site, or you
can sign up when you arrive at the conference.
The pre-conference workshops are:
Using Blogs Effectively within Your Organisation
International Business Information Resources
Repositories and Digital Initiatives
Communicating, Influencing and Negotiating for Results: The Human Face
of Collaboration
As for the conference itself, Stephen Arnold kicks of the event with an
Opening Keynote on 'Next Generation Libraries: the 2.0 Phenomenon' and
Phil Bradley closes the conference with 'Facing the Challenge of Web 2.0
as a Disruptive Technology'. In between there is a plethora of excellent
presentations and case studies. To list all of the presentations would
just subject you to information overload, but the session titles are:
The 2.0 Phenomenon
Web Design and Usability
Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Virtual Libraries
E-Learning and Teaching
Federated Search
Information Management
Information Search and Discovery
Electronic Resources
Digitisation
Further details are on the ILI web site at
http://www.internet-librarian.com/, or UKeiG members can refer to the
ILI brochure that was sent out in the last mailing to members.
