Head of Learning, Watts Gallery
Surrey
Circa £25,000 pa
Watts Gallery is founded on the principles of Art for All. The Gallery is
seeking a creative, innovative, organised and dedicated individual to take
forward the vision of G F Watts and Mary Watts in offering diverse
communities the opportunity to engage with art and the Watts Gallery
collection. The postholder will deliver a wide reaching education and
outreach programme involving formal education, lifelong learners and
excluded groups. During the two-year restoration period of Watts Gallery
in summer 2008, the postholder will deliver a successful outreach programme
which will maintain the profile of the Gallery, its collection and develop
awareness of G F Watts culminating in the reopening of the Gallery in 2010.
Applicants will have at least three years’ experience of Gallery or Museum
education work and will have teaching experience. Working with a small but
dynamic team at the Gallery, supported by a number of volunteers, the Head
of Learning will play a critical role in the development of Watts Gallery
as the centre for exploring Victorian art, social history and craft.
Applications should be sent to the Director at Watts Gallery by email,
