Dear Colleaugues
You might be interested to know about a conference we are holding on the
last weekend of this month at King's under the auspices of the EU funded
collaboration ACUME-2, which brings together scientists and experts in
the humanities, to discuss 'interfacing sciences, literature and
humanities'. ACUME 2's main objectives are:
* to investigate interactions between the sciences and humanities to
exploit and pursue the dynamic idea of their 'interfacing'
* to foster dialogue and mutual understanding between the 'two
cultures', exploring potentialities embedded in shared paradigms of
investigation, such as 'complexity', 'creativity', 'networking'
and 'the human factor' (see http://www2.lingue.unibo.it/acume2/).
The conference on Saturday 29^th / Sunday 30^th September 2007 is
entitled *Human and Post-Human: Cultural Origins and Futures* and will
concentrate on debates about the concept of the 'human' and the
possibilities of its transformation (see attached programme). There is
no registration fee for EU citizens - anyone wishing to attend
should contact Brian Hurwitz [log in to unmask] or Max Saunders:
