Call for contributions
Postgraduate students and academics from all disciplines interested in how
practice is used for research are invited to participate in a one-day
conference October 31st, 2007.
The conference's aim is to explore different forms of practice as
research (PaR) from diverse research areas. Thus 20-minute research
presentations, which will consider practice as a research methodology, in
any mode of expression (ranging from papers, workshops, exhibitions,
discussion groups, demonstrations, performances and so forth), are
welcome.
The organisers have prioritised several themes which participants might
like to consider, but other topics will be equally considered:
1. What is PaR today?
2. Where is the boundary between the academic and the practitioner?
3. The possibilities and problematics of combining practice with research.
4. Object of beauty or object of research?
5. What connections can be made between practical and theoretical work in
research?
Proposals should take the form of a 200-word abstract outlining the theme
of the research presentation or performance along with a brief biography
of the author(s) and should be sent no later than September 28th, 2007 to
either:
