The aim of the e-Social Science 2007 Conference is to bring together
international representatives of the social science and
cyberinfrastructure research communities in order to create better
mutual awareness, harmonize understanding, and instigate coordinated
activities to accelerate research, development, and deployment of
cyberinfrastructure to support the social science research community. A
related objective is to articulate both the technical and
social/organizational prerequisites for success in these endeavours.
The e-Social Science 2007 Conference will feature three keynote
speakers:
- Daniel E. Atkins, first director of the U.S. National Science
Foundation's Office of Cyberinfrastructure
- Roberta Balstad, who until recently was director of Columbia
University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network
(CIESIN)
- Carole Goble, director of the myGrid project in the UK, the largest UK
e-Science pilot project.
