AI-2007 is the latest in the leading series of UK-based international
conferences on Artificial Intelligence run by the BCS Specialist Group on
AI. For the first time, SGAI is offering a Forum for AI Research Students to
support student members of the AI community. This event offers a full day of
workshops and presentations and is FREE TO STUDENTS.
A one day event, FREE OF CHARGE to students, offering PhD and MRes/MPhil
students in AI fields:
. Guidance on conducting research and writing their thesis
. Feedback on their research and research plans
. Advice on undergoing a viva
. The chance to meet other research students and develop networks
. An opportunity to discuss their work with senior researchers and
practitioners
Deadline for applications: October 28th 2007
Overview
The Forum for AI Research Students at AI-2007 is intended to allow doctoral
and MRes/MPhil students working in AI and related fields to present their
research and receive feedback from senior scholars in the field and for
discussion with other Forum attendees. It will be a stand-alone programme
which will take place in parallel with the other conference workshops and
tutorials on December 10th.
Programme
The Forum will include:
. Getting a PhD - Workshop on conducting research and developing and
writing a thesis.
. Student presentations - Each student will have prepared a short
paper describing their work. In this session they will be invited to give
a short presentation of their research, and will then receive feedback from
experienced senior researchers, who will have read their paper prior to the
event.
. How To Survive your Viva! - A lighthearted presentation on how to
(and how not to) prepare for and perform at a Viva.
. AI-2007 Welcome Reception - a further opportunity to network with
other Forum, Workshop or Conference delegates over drinks in an informal
atmosphere.
