The Gtk2 interface is not yet official - but Bill likes to be
cutting-edge. I wonder why you call them "horrid" - is it because they
are pixelated? Do you think that icons in gnome applications are
horrid? (Many are the same as in Coot.)
You can delete the .pngs and .svgs from xxx/share/coot/pixmaps.
You will get warnings (that you can ignore) that Coot can't find the
icons as it starts up.
