Assistant Professorship in Historical Archaeology

Augusta State University (GA) invites applications for a full time, tenure track assistant
professorship in historical archaeology with ability to teach introductory biological anthropology
courses beginning August 2008. Ph.D. in Anthropology in hand required by August 1, 2008.
Successful applicant will teach 4/4 course load including cultural anthropology and four field
introductory anthropology as well as upper level courses.
Broad training and appreciation of anthropology history connections a plus in an interdisciplinary
department. The Augusta area is rich in historic and prehistoric resources. A candidate capable of
working with the full range of these resources is desirable. Departmental archaeology lab and
campus history museum may eventually be supervised by this hire, at which time teaching load
will be reduced. Institution is a growing teaching oriented regional university in Georgia's second
largest metropolitan area with a highly diverse student body of about 6,500 students.
