Biffin Lecture Theatre, University of Cambridge
Monday 22 October 2007
A seminar organised by Pamela Jane Smith.
Panellists
* Prof. Henrietta Moore
* Prof. Meg Conkey
* Prof. Ruth Tringham
* Prof. Alison Wylie
An informal, round-table, afternoon oral-historical discussion in which the transformations in
archaeological theory and method occurring during the late 1970s and early 1980s will be
reconstructed. Four of most eminent scholars in archaeology, Professor Henrietta Moore from LSE,
Professor Meg Conkey from UC at Berkeley, Professor Ruth Tringham also from Berkeley and
Professor Alison Wylie from the University of Washington will recount and analyse their memories
and young experiences as they pioneered early 'post-processual' approaches. A question and
answer period will follow the individual recollections. The audience will have the opportunity to
debate with the panellists and bottles of wine will be offered for questions from undergraduates.
This event is scheduled for Monday, 22nd October 2007, from 4 to 6.15pm, at the Cambridge
University Biffen Lecture Theatre, Genetics Building, Downing Street Site, Cambridge University. A
super homemade tea will be served beforehand by volunteers at the Cambridge University
Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology beginning at 3.00pm. A wine reception will follow the
discussion. All enquiries: Pamela Jane Smith - [log in to unmask]
