On Wednesday i was suffering with the sore throat so rested all day till
going to Naked Lunch in the evening and meeting Jimmy Cummins and his pal. I
think he will agree that the highlight of the night was Rónán Murphy, the
singer with a band from Louth called The Evil Harrisons.

He did a couple of poems, one by T S Eliot and one of the most arresting and
by far the most compelling and bang on the money Sound Poem i have ever heard.

I kid you not, he makes Kurt Schwitters sound like William McGonagall,
whilst he is the genuine Shakespeare of this form.

And the craziest, he only has five of these sonnets, as he calls them, as
after he wrote them he fell into writing lyrics for the band, who are
reciving rave reviews in Ireland and will be paying the Working Class Heroes
Festival on 28th Septemeber in Crawdaddy in Dublin.

This was a higher grade of poetical occurrence altogether, that chance would
divvy up such a random act of genius to two people meeting for the first
time via the medium of this portal; and the four of us - jimmy, his pal,
Ronan and i - had a good affirmational gas before parting the ways, and i
walked up to Christchurch with Ronan, spieling my own interest in irish
mythology, which he also is a nut on.

~

Today i went for lunch in the homeless canteen and began composing an e mail
to Joe Duffy, Ireland's premier radio talk show man, sorter-outer of the
nations problems from his studio in Dublin.

I am writing to him to get Paul Casey, the current Ard Ollamh of Ireland,
on his Liveline show, to talk of the Save Tara campaign. He was at mine for
a few days last week and we had two oral transmission sessions; me asking
him questions about the various kings in the mythological list, and he knows
every single one and can tell you the associated stories about them and
their place in the wider mythology.

It was only after these i realised the reality of how oral learning must
have occurred, and how much easier it is to take on info in this way, as
opposed to reading it. Very instructive, and i also realised that he is the
only person who has all the facts about Tara, from the full four cycles of
myth, to the nuts and bolts of what is happening now with the government
shenanigans and the immensely powerful landowners who stand to benifit most
from the current route, many of whom have made contributions to the
government and been discredited in the various corruption tribunals,
according to John Lee political correspondent of the Ireland on Sunday, in
this article.

All work has currently stopped by order of the EU after another national
monument was unearthed as the diggers moved in. A massive henge, 80M in
diameter, and the government's plan is to measure and record it, then
concrete over it. This work will be over in two months and the legal battle
between the various factions are currently raging.

Casey has organised seven gigs throughout Ireland on 29 September, and i
will post up another thread on these.

~

So join in the daily diary space-cats and get chatting, otherwise it's just
me boring you lot. It only takes one other voice for the basic call and
return of poetry to occur, so please, someone toss in summat...
