Subject: Poland in the EU: Evaluating the First Three Years of Membership
Dear All
The European Research Institute of the University of Birmingham and the
Sussex European Institute are co-organising a conference on Poland's first
three years of EU membership, which will take place on
16 and 17 November 2007 at the Polish embassy in London. You are warmly
invited to participate.
Over the past three years, the Polish government's European policy has been
a source of considerable controversy and has been widely criticised. This
conference on Poland in the EU will take place three weeks after this
autumn's pre-term parliamentary elections in Poland and provides the
opportunity not only for an expert assessment of the initial phase of
membership, but also to look forward to the European policy of the next
government. The conference programme is available below and from the website
of the European Research Institute in
Birmingham: http://www.eri.bham.ac.uk/
We are extremely grateful to our sponsors the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Centre for East European
Language-Based Studies (CEELBAS) and the Sussex European Institute without
whose support this event would not be possible.
If you would like to attend, please email Dr Nathaniel Copsey at the
ERI: [log in to unmask] to register.
We look forward to seeing you in November.
With best wishes
Prof. Alan Mayhew
Prof. Aleks Szczerbiak
Dr. Nathaniel Copsey
Apologies for any cross posting.
